The ‘Sherlock Holmes’ Sequel Gets A Subtitle

Here Comes 'A Game of Shadows'
It turns out that Sherlock Holmes 2 won’t be called Sherlock Holmes 2 after all. Warner Bros. has decided to give the sequel film a subtitle in order to, apparently, give it an identity of its own. Henceforth, from here on out, the upcoming Sherlock Holmes sequel will be titled Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows. Ooooooooooooooooh!

Elementary, our dear Watson, is not always a good thing. Particularly when it comes to the newly revealed title of Guy Ritchie’s Robert Downey Jr.-and Jude Law-starring Sherlock Holmes sequel, which certainly seems like it could’ve benefited from a secondary (and dare we say, tertiary) look. In any case, ladies and gentlemen, mark your calendars for Dec. 16, when into a theater near you will roll Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows. No, seriously. What happened to the Brits’ much ballyhooed way with words? Ah, well. Perhaps that’s a mystery for the third installment.
HMMM, I’m not in love with the name but I do think it’s better than just Sherlock Holmes 2. Additionally, a new promo photo has been released for the film that features leading men Robert Downey, Jr. and Jude Law in action with their female co-star Noomi Rapace:

I am really excited for the original Girl With the Dragon Tattoo to make her English-speaking movie debut. As for the new subtitle … do you like it? Do you care?
