Hottie Alert! Captain America is on set of 'The Avengers.'

Daily Mail

There's no such thing as a day off when you're a world-saving super hero, or even just an actor who plays one.

Just a month after Captain America: The First Avenger opened in the U.S., the film's star Chris Evans was back in his super hero suit to reprise the role as a modern day version of the the World War II crime fighter.

The action star filmed explosive scenes on the set of The Avengers in the Cleveland, Ohio today, which doubled as a busy New York City street.

Even the dashing actor struggled to keep his cool sweating in the skin-tight suit as he jumped between cop cars in the sweltering summer heat wave.

In an effort not to succumb to heat stroke, Evans didn't even put on his mask until the cameras were actually rolling, opting instead to look like a true Hollywood movie star in hip shades and a billowing cloak.

Soon the Mid Western city was rocked by explosions as the special affects teams blew up a mock version of Manhattan's 42nd Street.

Chris will soon be joining his Avengers co-stars Chris Hemsworth, Robert Downey Jr, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson and more as they continue filming the Marvel film.

The superhero flick is set to hit cinemas May 4, 2012.

Captain America: The First Avenger hit was released last, and Chris chatted with Celebuzz all about the film, and explained that he earned his fair share of bruises while making it.

He said: 'This was actually a movie where you went home with more bumps and bruises than usual just because he has special power and ability.

'He’s not flying around in the sky and he’s not bursting into flames.

'His powers are grounded in reality. So all he’s able to do are human things and as a result it’s a lot of hand-to-hand combat, in which case they don’t really need CGI so we all had to get the gloves on and get in the ring. You go home feeling pretty sore,' he continued.

Chris Evans's character Steve Rogers was originally alive and well in 1944, but then wakes up in 2011.

Today he filmed first scene of his shot where he walks in present day New York City.
