Most Of Those ‘American Horror Story’ Teasers Are Fake And FX Has Just Been Playing With Us

Only ONE of the promos released so far is accurate.

FX
What the hell is Season 6 of “American Horror Story” going to be about?

Based on the teasers FX has released so far, some HuffPost editors had theorized that come September we’ll be watching Charles Manson time travel to colonial Virginia via a spaceship with his pals Satan and Lady Gaga as herself — after returning from vacation in the lost city of Atlantis.

Anything is possible, since it’s a Ryan Murphy show, but it turns out that FX has just been f**king with us this whole time, and only one of the teasers they’ve released actually hints at the theme for Season 6.

At the Television Critics Association press tour on Tuesday, FX CEO John Landgraf admitted that most of the teasers from the network are “misdirects.”

“We just thought it would be really fun to keep it a mystery this year. And we are,” Landgraf told the crowd. “They went out and made many more trailers than you’ve actually seen for hypothetical seasons of ‘American Horror Story.’ One of them is accurate.”

Here are some of the trailers that the network previously released.

A crib ostensibly holding some kind of demon spawn, whose mobile spells “PIG.”

A gross bug.

The horrors of HMOs.

This nuclear family unit.

This desolate farmhouse.

What does this mean? Well, at this point, it seems futile to bother trying to determine what this season could possibly be about. It’s about something, but we don’t know which of the teasers is real, and which ones are simply distractions.

FX is clearly hoping that the mystery of the new season will be enough to generate new interest after the Season 5 conclusion was the lowest-rated “AHS” finale yet.

“American Horror Story” Season 6 premieres Wednesday, Sept. 14, at 10 p.m.
