In 2006, the actor told the mag that they almost never reconnected after their first meeting.
"I met her backstage and got her phone number, but then my jeans were cleaned out by the crew and they threw it out," James explained. , "I'd given her my number, but she took down one digit wrong. It took her six months to call all of the different combinations."
The actor, who recently appeared on "Hawaii Five-O" announced his engagement to the German fashion design student in May 2010.
This marks the second trip down the aisle for James. He has a son from his previous marriage.
