Fee fie foe fum! We smell the blood of... Ewan McGregor?
First of all, we're pleased as punch that Bryan Singer is finally getting to make "Jack the Giant Killer," a project he's been trying to get off the ground forever despite his handful of magic beans.
This retelling of "Jack and the Beanstalk" is sure to have all sorts of delightful dark whimsy, following the adventures of a farm boy who leads an expedition to save a princess who's been kidnapped by a giant.
And we're even more pleased that Ewan McGregor looks to be joining the production. The former Obi-Wan Kenobi just hasn't been around enough lately -- we loved his sweet-natured weirdo turn in "I Love You Phillip Morris," but we want more!
McGregor is in talks to play the leader of the king's elite guard, who are expert giant-fighters, according to Heat Vision.
McGregor would be joining a cast that already includes Nicholas Hoult (Hank McCoy/Beast in the upcoming "X-Men: First Class," which Singer was once attached to) as the farm boy, Stanley Tucci as the shady advisor to the king and Bill Nighy and John Kassir (yes, the Crypt Keeper from "Tales From the Crypt") as the two-headed leader of the giants.
The princess has yet to be cast, but we're sure she'll be cute.
Production on "Jack the Giant Killer" begins in London in March.
