Super Excited About This One! Sevigny, HBO Take a Whack at Lizzie Borden
In a piece of casting that can only be responded to with “Well of course she is,” Big Love‘s Chloe Sevigny is confirmed to play Lizzie Borden in a miniseries she is developing for HBO.
In addition to starring as the titular hatchet woman, Sevigny will co-executive produce Lizzie Borden, Deadline reports. Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman, whose Playtone studio produces Big Love, will serve as executive producers.
Envisioned as a two-part, four-hour miniseries, Lizzie Borden will tell the story of the Massachusetts woman who in 1892, at the age of 32, was acquitted of murdering her father, Andrew, and step-mother, Abby, with a hatchet.
Sevigny has had her eye on Borden’s story since at least 2005, when she first visited the site of the double murder (now a bed-and-breakfast in Fall River, Mass.). She first spoke of tackling the role in this recent video Q&A with Imagine Fashion:
Are you curious to see Sevigny follow in Elizabeth Montgomery’s (1975 TV-movie) footsteps and explore the Lizzie Borden story?
