Dr. Seuss fans, rejoice!
Back in October, we were excited to report that Dr. Seuss' underrated masterpiece The Lorax is being adapted into a 3-D feature film by the team behind Despicable Me and Horton Hears A Who.
Now, we've learned that the film will be released in theaters on March 2nd, 2012, and we can't wait!
For those of you whose history with Seuss ends at The Cat in the Hat, the original Lorax story/cautionary tale revolves around a hairy little creature who stands on his tree-stump podium and tries to convince people not to destroy the forest.
Here's how Universal has described the story in their adaptation of The Lorax:
"[It's about] a boy who searches for the one thing that will help him win the affection of the girl of his dreams. To find it, he must discover the story of the Lorax, the grumpy yet charming creature who fights to protect his world."As long as the important message about the environment from the original story/cautionary tale is still present in this movie, we'll be happy.
Plus, as we've mentioned before, the movie's got one hell of a vocal cast, including Zac Efron, Betty White, Danny DeVito, Ed Helms, Rob Riggle, AND now Taylor Swift as well!
We're pumped!
Will U check out The Lorax next March when it's released?
