It seems the casting now for Timur Bekmambetov‘s “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter” has been going on forever at this point, and now one more name has joined the cast in what we’d guess is the last major role (right guys?). Variety reports that Rufus Sewell (”Dark City,” “The Tourist”) has joined the film taking on the role of Adam, the main vampire foe the president will have to defeat.
Sewell joins an extensive cast that includes Benjamin Walker, Anthony Mackie, Dominic Cooper, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Robin McLeavy, Jimmi Simpson and Alan Tudyk in the film based on the faux diaries of the president (Walker) given to the author by a vampire named Henry Sturgess (Cooper). Sturgess saved Lincoln’s life when he battles a vampire as a teenager, and the two become fast friends.
Sturgess teaches Lincoln about the history of vampirism, trains him in combat, and sends the president to hunt and kill evil vampires. Mackie will play the president’s best friend, Will, with Winstead playing Mary Todd, McLeavy as Lincoln’s Mom and Tudyk as Stephen A. Douglas, leader of the Southern vampires.
Lensing on the film should be underway any day now—if not already—with a June 22, 2012 release date already set.
