True Blood's Nest organized a battle between Vampire Beeeeehl and ASkars to see who could suck out the most money for charity. The loser had to pose for a picture while wearing a t-shirt designed by the winner. Well, as you can tell by the fact that your khakis are around your ankles and a "DO NOT DISTURB" sign is hung over your cubicle wall, Vampire Beeehl's team won and he forced the Swedish meatball to pose in a pink "Bill's Bitch" t-shirt.

Beeehl raised $35,043 for the Gulf Relief Foundation and ASkars raised $34,223 for SOS Children's Villages.
These pictures are definitely worth a thousand words (and other things). And they're even worth more if you pull the camera back with your imagination and picture Beehl standing on one of Tommy Girl's apple boxes to kiss his Swedish bitch. Now who's the real bitch, Beeeeehl?

I can't decide if I'm for this or not?

Johnny Depp To Cameo In 21 Jump Street? He Says…

Perez Hilton Filed under: Film Flickers > Johnny Depp > Jonah Hill
johnny-depp-would-cameo-in-212-jump-street-movie.jpg
He would, if someone would finally give him a formal invitation to do so.
We're talking to you, Jonah Hilll!
During a recent interview, Jonah, who is headlining the big screen reboot of 21 Jump Street with Channing Tatum, was asked if Johnny Depp would be making an appearance in the flick. Jonah insisted that a cameo was written for him and that he hoped Johnny would be into it.
Guess what, Jonah? He is!
While at The Tourist junket yesterday, sources asked the all important question of Johnny, who replied he would be totally game for it…when someone actually asks him to do it! He told sources:
“I’ve said I’m into it, but no one’s actually approached me…I’m in. I’m in. I think it’d be pretty easy.”
Hell yeah! Sounds like you need to get your shiz together Jonah! Get your people to talk to his people STAT!

The Daily Mail: A Parody of the News - The Wild Hunt

In the long history of this blog I have only completely written off one news outlet when it comes to stories concerning modern Pagans, the anti-Pagan conspiracy-loving WorldNetDaily (WND), but it looks like I’m about to add another.  The Daily Mail, a right-leaning British tabloid one perilous step above former Bat Boy spotters like the Weekly World News, has crossed the Rubicon into outright hostile distorted sensationalism regarding anything involving modern Pagans.
An illustration from The Daily Mail article.
“Hundreds of criminals are to be given four days a year off prison work – to celebrate pagan festivals. The festivals include Imbolc – The Festival of the Lactating Sheep – which falls on February 1 and is dedicated to the goddess Brighid. Another is the festival of Beltane, which falls in early May, devotees are urged to celebrate the Sun God with ‘unabashed sexuality and promiscuity’. The Yule festival involves pagans ‘casting spells’ and dressing up as ghosts.”
The bizarre distortions of Pagan holidays, and the turning of a fairly straightforward allowance of equal treatment for Pagan prisoners into some sort of pearls-clutching sign of society crumbling is sadly only the most recent in a string of anti-Pagan smears perpetrated by the paper this year. There was the “British schools teach Paganism” distortion, the “BBC is too Pagan friendly” pile-on, the “museums are changing their policies because they are afraid of Pagans” exaggeration, and the scathing anti-Pagan vitriol from Melanie Phillips when The Druid Network won charity status.
“Elevating them to the same status as Christianity is but the latest example of how the bedrock creed of this country is being undermined. More than that, it is an attack upon the very concept of religion itself. This is because Druidry is simply not a religion. Now, it’s true that religion is notoriously difficult to define. But true religions surely rest on an established structure of traditions, beliefs, literature and laws. Above all, they share a belief in a supernatural deity (or more than one) that governs the universe. By these standards, Druidry is surely not a religion but a cult…”
So that’s it. To quote a famous Bond villian: Once is happenstance. Twice is coincidence. The third time it’s enemy action. Five times in the span of three months? It’s a paranoid unhealthy obsession. They can’t seem to actually write something fair-minded about our faiths, as if the mention of Paganism, Druidry, or Wicca sparks some sort of Pavlovian urge to cast themselves as Sgt. Howie in The Wicker Man (sans the ending, of course). They are an unwitting parody of conservative thinking, a reactionary journalistic Chicken Little constantly warning of the sky falling, knowing that eventually something they scream about will be correct.
I’d call for a boycott, or angry letters, but that just feeds the beast. They thrive, crave, our attention. The outrage-baiting headlines, the choppy barely-rewritten-from-the-newswires prose interspersed with distortions and clumsily obscured personal opinion, it’s all an attention-generating machine. So it stops here. No more links. No more attention. Let’s stop pretending they are “news”, and deny them the page-views they so desperately desire. Don’t forward them, respond to them, Tweet them, or share them on Facebook. If you must comment on a story they do, find the kernel of a real story and report on that. Dig deeper. Don’t provide them with any more fuel. They are a parody of the news, but that joke isn’t funny anymore.

Herbs Go West: Ayurveda is the New Yoga

by YogaDork on December 7, 2010
As doctors, healers and delegates from all over the world gather together for the 4th annual World Ayurveda Congress & Expo in Bangalore this Thursday, December 9th, we have to wonder, should we be preparing ayurvedadork.com?
Ayurveda, literally “science of life” in sanskrit, grew its roots thousands of years ago in, seeping into the Western world as interest in alternative medicine ebbs and flows, but it’s just recently catching on in YogaPop culture. This weekend-long conference, expected to be bigger than any previous years, will focus on the growing fascination with the ancient system and its place in the modern world.
Dr Geetha Krishna, organizing secretary of the event shares this year’s goal, via Daily Newa & Analysis:
What is the purpose of the Ayurveda Congress?
The theme of this year’s programme is ‘Ayurveda for All’. Despite having a great legacy of healthcare and treatment in our country, people are not too keen on this method of treatment. So we will be showcasing its potential, stressing the fact that it is a recognised medical practice. We have over 1,250 scientific papers which will be presented during the congress.
At least this time around, unlike with yoga, India is more prepared to counter any enterprising biopirates out there trying to gank their heritage*. Since 2001 the Indian government has been documenting and digitalizing ayurveda in the TKDL (Traditional Knowledge Digital Library) along with thousands of yoga poses.
* “In December 1993, the University of Mississippi Medical Center had a patent issued to them by United States Patent and Trademark Office on the use of turmeric for healing.[59] The patent was contested by India’s industrial research organization, Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), on the grounds that traditional ayurvedic practitioners were already aware of the healing properties of the substance for centuries, and that this prior art made the patent a case of bio-piracy” [wikipedia]

“Cate is one of my favorite actors to work with, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to have her reprise the role she so beautifully brought to life in the earlier films,” director Peter Jackson said in a statement.
