Avatar is getting some prime real estate at Disney theme parks thanks to a long-term agreement between Fox, filmmaker/environmentalist James Cameron and studio that will surely result in prime paychecks for all.
Theme park Avatar “lands” with an emphasis on “harmony with nature” will offer park visitors the chance to explore the mysterious universe that the 2009 film brought to 3-D cinematic life. Walt Disney World’s Animal Kingdom park will be the first park to go blue with Pandora environments. Construction will kick off by 2013, and future locations, exclusive to Disney parks, are to be determined. Disney president Robert Iger says: “We have the extraordinary opportunity to combine James’ talent and vision with the imagination and expertise of Disney.”
