There's been a lot of crossover between the Harry Potter films and Doctor Who over the years. Now that the Potter films are finished, hopefully we'll start to convert some of you Hogwarts kids into Whovians.

• David Tennant

  
  Tennant played Barty Crouch Jr. in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and the Tenth Doctor.

• Michael Gambon

  
  Gambon played Albus Dumbledore in the Harry Potter films, and both Kazran & Elliot Sardick in the Doctor Who episode A Christmas Carol.

• Helen McCrory

  
  McCrory played Narcissa Malfoy in the Harry Potter films, and a Saturnynian queen named Rosanna Calvierri in the Doctor Who epsiode The Vampires of Venice.

• John Cleese

  
  Cleese played Nearly Headless Nick in the Harry Potter films and has a small cameo in a Doctor Who episode titled City of Death.

• Zoë Wanamaker

  
  Wanamaker played Rolanda Hooch in the Harry Potter films, and the last living human named Lady Cassandra in several episodes of Doctor Who.

• Jim Broadbent

  
  Broadbent played Horace Slughorn in the Harry Potter films, and played a possible future version of the eight doctor in the episode The Curse of Fatal Death.

• Toby Jones

  
  Jones voiced the character of Dobby the House elf in the Harry Potter films, and played the Dream Lord in the Doctor Who episode Amy's Choice.

• Bill Nighy

  
  Nighy played Rufus Scrimgeour in the Harry Potter films, and has a cameo as Vincent van Gogh expert in the Doctor Who episode Vincent and the Doctor (which will make you cry if you ever watch it).

• Roger Lloyd Pack

  
  Pack played Barty Crouch Sr. in the Harry Potter films, and played the creator of the Cybermen, John Lumic, in Doctor Who.

• Shirley Henderson

  
  Henderson played Moaning Myrtle in the Harry Potter films, and played Ursula Blake in the Doctor Who episode Love & Monsters, where she had her face fused with a slab of pavement by The Doctor.

• Adrian Rawlins

  
  Rawlins played Harry Potter's father, James, in the films and played the leader of the Ood rebellion in the Doctor Who episode Planet of the Ood.

• David Bradley

  
  Bradley played Argus Filch in the Harry Potter films, and voiced the vulture humanoids known as the Shansheeth in Doctor Who.

• Derek Deadman

  
  Deadman played Tom the Innkeeper in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (he was later replaced by Jim Tavaré) and played a Commander in the Sontaran Special Space Service named Stor in a 1978 episode of Doctor Who.

• Elizabeth Spriggs

  
  Spriggs played the portrait of the fat lady guarding Gryffindor Tower in the Harry Potter films, and appeared in a 1987 episode of Doctor Who (where she is strangled by a cleaning device controlled by aliens.)

• Jeff Rawle

  
  Rawle plays Amos Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (father to Cedric Diggory), and played Plantagenet in a 1984 episode of Doctor Who titled Frontios.

• Jessica Hynes

  
  Hynes provided the voice for Mafilda Hopkirk in the Harry Potter films before the character appeared in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, where she was played by Sophie Thompson. In Doctor Who, she played three separate related characters who The Doctor meets at various points in time.

• Jimmy Gardner

  
  Gardner played the driver of the Knight Bus in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and played an alien named Idmon in a 1978 episode of Doctor Who.

• John Atterbury

  
  Atterbury played the portraits of Phineas Nigellus Black in the Harry Potter films, and did some costume acting for several episodes of Doctor Who in the 1960s.

• Julian Glover

  
  Glover provided the voice for Aragog in the Harry Potter films, and played both Richard the Lionheart in a 1965 episode of Doctor Who as well as an alien named Scaroth in a 1979 episode.

• Terence Bayler

  
  Bayler plays the ghost and portrait of the Bloody Baron in the Harry Potter films, and appears as an alien named Yendom in an episode of Doctor Who from 1966.

  The actor that plays Dudley in the Harry Potter films, Harry Melling, is actually the grandson of Patrick Troughton, who played the second doctor.

  Alfie Enoch, who plays Dean Thomas in the Harry Potter films is the son of William Russell, who played Ian Chesterton, one of The Doctor's first companions.

David Tennant Cast to Play the Killer in NBC’s Hannibal

Tennant is set to play a ‘seriously deranged’ serial killer in the new upcoming Sky Living show Hannibal, set before the events of the 1991 film Silence of the Lambs.

Tennant initially auditioned for the lead role of Hannibal Lecter (played in the 1991 film by Sir Anthony Hopkins), but narrowly lost out to Mads Mikkelsen (Casino Royale).

The series, developed by Bryan Fuller (Star Trek: DS9 and Pushing Daisies) is based on characters and events from the novel Red Dragon by Thomas Harris. It focuses on the relationship between FBI Special Agent Will Graham – played by Hugh Dancy (Cold Feet) and Dr. Hannibal Lecter, a forensic psychiatrist (before he discovered the joys of liver and Chianti). Also starring are Laurence Fishburne, Eddie Izzard and Gillian Anderson.

Hannibal will air on Sky Living from 7th May 2013 – However if you have access to Sky’s On Demand service or Sky Go you can actually watch the premier nearly a week early from Wednesday 1st May. In the meantime check out the trailer below

The TARDIS

This weekend – Saturday at 8/7c on BBCAMERICA – we get to have a proper rummage around in the bowels of the TARDIS, in the Doctor Who adventure that is helpfully titled Journey To The Centre Of The TARDIS.

Which has, of course, prompted a whole series of discussions debating the relative worth of previous trips in and around this most mysterious of blue boxes. The Doctor’s TARDIS has been a subject of fascination and debate ever since the chameleon circuit first got stuck, when hiding as a police box in 1963, and the Doctor’s granddaughter’s teachers stumbled into a whole new world. It remains as iconic and enigmatic now as it did then, from the little lamp on top to the hexagonal console inside.

Barrowman & Kingston Want Jack & River Spin-off

John Barrowman and Alex Kingston want to see a Doctor Who spin-off featuring their characters Jack and River pairing up.

Barrowman told TVaddict: “[Alex and I] got a glass of champagne and started talking about how it would be great if River and Jack – actually, she said River and Jack should have their own TV show.

“Then as we talked more, we realized that we’re both born on the same day.  We’re both March 11th babies and we have so much in common.  We like a lot of the same things and our attitude towards stuff is very, very similar.

“It struck a chord with us because that’s why River and Jack are very similar characters, in their attitude and their fun and their aggression, we are the same in real life – which is really ironic.  So we struck it off.

“Then she came on ARROW, again we saw each other in the makeup trailer and just screamed. We both said, “Boy, there’s going to be some fan-gasms out there in a couple of weeks!”  It was brilliant.”

Barrowman hasn’t forgotten about Torchwood, but he isn’t holding his breath for the show’s return any time soon.

He explained: “To be honest with you, it’s not our call again.  It’s whether the BBC will commission it.  After it was done with BBC and Starz, whoever has the rights, we just have to wait and see. Russell said in an interview less than six months ago, he said TORCHWOOD is not dead. It could be done in 2 years, it would be done in 5 years, it could be done in a movie.  So it could still have a life, but who knows when it will be done. But the thing is, I can’t sit around and wait. I’ve got to work.”
