Daniel Radcliffe Says Final Part of Harry Potter 7 ‘Like A War Film’

There’s been a fair few comments surrounding Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 and its perceived lack of direction and pace in terms of plot. Other criticism is there wasn’t enough set-pieces and most of the movie was spent inside a tent in various locales across the UK.
But was David Yates cleverly building up the calm before the storm? Daniel Radcliffe definitely thinks so. As fans we can expect distinct styles for Parts 1 and 2: drama for the first, and for the sweet pay-off: high action. The man who pretends he’s Potter said this to press agency Reuters:

“The last movie is going to be really, really fast-paced and a load of action in it, and it is like a war film. If we had done this book in one film, the stuff that would have got cut is most of this film.”

Up next for Mr. Radcliffe is Hammer’s The Woman in Black and in 2012 he’ll be setting off for the western front when he stars in a brand new adaptation of Erich Maria Remarque’s classic war novel All Quiet On The Western Front.
Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows Part 2 is released 16th July, 2011.

It's all a bit cryptic

Twihards rejoice! The very first image from the upcoming Breaking Dawn has been released.

And it's not all that exciting. Well maybe it is if you've read the books. The image shows a hand on a bed clutching some feathers, and it's lit with a the glow of a romantic honeymoon location.

The guys at Collider have used their detective skills to ascertain that this is taken from a scene (minor spoilers follow) in which Bella (Kristen Stewart) and Edward (Robert Pattinson) spend their honeymoon on Isle Esma.

No doubt frightfully exciting for fans of the book, this image will mean absolutely zip to non-fans.


Quite what feathers are doing in the bed are, frankly anyone's guess. Is there some kind of unholy vampire ritual that sees a chicken brought into the marital bed?

Bill Condon, the director behind Gods and Monsters, Kinsey and Dreamgirls, is calling the shots on the Breaking Dawn two-parter.

Fans will probably have to wait a little longer for more detailed production photos, as the film is not scheduled for release until 18 November 2011, making this the biggest between-film hiatus of the saga.

Grandma set ablaze in Alleged Exorcism Attempt

A 72-year-old grandmother suffered one of the most barbaric of deaths when she was burnt alive by a mob at Tema Site 15 after being accused of being a witch.
A student-nurse, who appeared on the scene, attempted to rescue the old woman from her ordeal but the woman died of her burns within 24 hours of arrival at the Tema General Hospital.
Five people who allegedly tortured and extracted the confessions of witchcraft from Ama Hemmah before drenching her in kerosene and setting her ablaze have been arrested by the Tema Police.
But the suspects, including an evangelist, denied the crime and claimed that they were rather praying to exorcise the evil spirit from the deceased, Ama, when the anointing oil they had applied to her body caught fire.
Two of the suspects are Samuel Ghunney, a 50-year-old photographer, and Pastor Samuel Fletcher Sagoe, 55, the evangelist.
The rest are Emelia Opoku, 37; Nancy Nana Ama Akrofie, 46, and Mary Sagoe, 52, all unemployed.
Briefing the Daily Graphic on the incident, the Tema Regional Police Commander, Mr Augustine Gyening, Assistant Commissioner of Police, said about 10 a.m. on November 20, 2010, Samuel Fletcher Sagoe visited his sister (Emelia) at Site 15, a suburb of Tema Community 1, and saw Madam Hemmah sitting in Emelia’s bedroom at a time Emelia had sent her children to school.
Mr Gyening said Samuel then raised an alarm, attracting the attention of the principal suspect, Samuel Ghunney, and some people in the neighbourhood.
According to him, the suspects claimed that Madam Hemmah was a known witch in the area and subjected her to severe torture, compelling her to confess to being a witch.
He said after extracting the confession from Madam Hemmah, Ghunney asked Emelia for a gallon of kerosene and with the help of his accomplices, poured it all over the woman and set her ablaze.
Mr Gyening said a student-nurse, Deborah Pearl Adumoah, who chanced upon the barbaric act, rescued Madam Hemmah and sent her to the Community One Police Station, from where she was transferred to the Tema General Hospital, but she died the following day.
In their caution statement, the suspects denied the offence and explained that they poured anointing oil on the old woman which caught fire when they offered prayers to exorcise the demon from her.
The docket has since been sent to the Attorney-General’s Department for advice, while the body of the deceased has been deposited at the Police Hospital mortuary for autopsy.

I case you haven't heard - Joss Whedon Dropped From Buffy Reboot

In May, 2009, the news broke that the other producers (Fran and Kaz Kazui) of Buffy the Vampire Slayer were hoping to reboot the concept without Joss Whedon. This week, that concept got closer to happening with the news that Warner Bros and Atlas Entertainment (Get Smart, Scooby Doo) have put the Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot into development at the studio, optioning the rights from the Kazuis. Newcomer screenwriter Whit Anderson will be writing the script, based on an idea that she approached the producers with. Although most of the details of the reboot aren't yet known, an insider was quoted as saying, "this is not your high school Buffy." One way to interpret that is that the new Buffy will not be a high school student, or the comment could just be targeted at people who were in high school at the time. As for Joss Whedon, the man behind the popular TV series responded with a statement that ends with a joke that he will be rebooting Warner Bros' Batman franchise with a project called The Dark Knight Rises Way Earlier Than That Other One And Also More Cheaply And In Toronto.

'Potter' star Tom Felton: 'I did not father secret baby'

 Harry Potter actor Tom Felton has spoken out to play down internet rumours suggesting he could be the father of a secret baby.

The reports started after a mysterious postcard was posted on the blog Post Secret – where users can send in secrets anonymously.

It featured pictures of Tom, Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Jason Isaacs, twins James and Oliver Phelps and Alan Rickman.

And the message read: "One of these men is the father of the most amazing little girl in the world.

"He's never met her, he never will. He probably can't even remember my name."

Tom set the record straight on Twitter, saying: "My friend just found this on the web! Just to confirm that I can be cancelled out of this equation lol!"

The 23-year-old is in a relationship with film industry worker Jade Olivia.

During a recent interview on Glenn Beck's radio show, Sarah Palin made a big oopsie, declaring her alliance with "North Korea!"

On the show, it sounded like Sarah was siding with North Korea's dictator Kim Jong-il when she said:

"This speaks to a bigger picture here that certainly scares me in terms of our national security policy. But obviously we’ve gotta stand with our North Korean allies."

Glenn rushed in and corrected her, saying, "South Korean allies."

Oy.

EW Box office preview: 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows' to lead Thanksgiving weekend

This holiday weekend, Potter is the ultimate box-office weapon — prepared to handle any adversary. His biggest challenger arrives in the animated form of Disney’s Tangled, but by the end of this weekend, Rapunzel could very well be sporting Emma Watson’s hairdo. As for the extremely revealing romantic comedy Love and Other Drugs, Dwayne Johnson’s R-rated action movie Faster, and the Cher and Christina Aguilera musical Burlesque — well, they should all be happy just to be sitting at the dining table. Harry Potter is mighty hungry, and this Thanksgiving weekend, he’s coming back for seconds. Here are my predictions for the three-day weekend:
1. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows — Part 1: $53 million
After consuming $125 million its opening weekend, Deathly Hallows grossed $8.8 million and $10.3 million on Monday and Tuesday, respectively, bringing its five-day domestic total to a staggering $144.1 million. So clearly Muggles are still very interested in the fantasy flick, and that should continue to be the case this weekend. A second-week decline of about 58 percent seems in order. While that may appear to be a steep drop, keep in mind that Deathly Hallows‘ debut weekend was particularly front-loaded. (It made $24 million from Thursday midnight screenings alone). By Sunday night, the movie should be sitting with a belt-bursting cumulative total of at least $220 million.
2. Tangled: $35 million
This animated retelling of the Rapunzel fairy tale is being released in 3,603 theaters, of which nearly 70 percent will be projecting the PG musical in 3-D. Those premium-ticket surcharges, in addition to the film’s favorable reviews and Disney’s omnipresent marketing, should help push the movie past $30 million for the weekend. By comparison, Disney’s most recent non-Pixar animated feature, The Princess and the Frog, opened wide last December to $24.2 million. But with Tangled‘s action sequences (and male co-lead) being heavily promoted, young boys should show more interest this time than they did with Princess. And for family audiences that have already seen Deathly Hallows (or with children too young to see that PG-13 film), Tangled will likely be their top entertainment choice.
3. Burlesque: $13 million
The critics aren’t too impressed with this $55 million musical, but that shouldn’t deter supporters of Christina Aguilera and/or Cher from checking it out. Sony released Rent five years ago during the same Thanksgiving frame, and even with that Broadway musical’s legion of fans, the film version could only muster $10 million its first weekend. Burlesque should perform a tad better, thanks to the beauty of inflation.
4. Megamind: $12.5 million
Even though the DreamWorks Animation superhero comedy has a new 3-D competitor in Tangled, Thanksgiving weekend is very kind to family films. Expect a drop of only 22 percent.
5. Faster: $12 million
After a parade of comedies and family fare, Dwayne Johnson is back in his first action vehicle since 2005′s Doom. The R-rated Faster — in which Johnson plays a revenge-seeking ex-con armed with guns, knives, and a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS — should appeal to those who prefer their Thanksgiving movies to be a bit, well, bloodier. Made for $24 million, Faster should bring in half of that over the three-day weekend.
6. Love and Other Drugs: $10 million
Despite all the talk about Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway’s aversion to clothes in this R-rated romantic comedy, Fox’s Love and Other Drugs is burdened with an unwieldy title and a fair share of mediocre reviews. Ultimately, this is an adult date movie being released on a weekend when families reign supreme. Look for an initially soft opening, with a potentially more promising prognosis a week or two down the line.
